Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal's subtropical lowlands (Terai), offering one of Asia's finest wildlife experiences. The park is home to one-horned rhinoceroses, Bengal tigers, gharial crocodiles, sloth bears, and over 500 bird species in dense sal forests, grasslands, and riverine habitats.
Jeep safaris, canoe rides on the Rapti River, and guided jungle walks bring visitors remarkably close to wildlife. The Tharu people - the indigenous community of the Terai - add cultural depth with their traditional stick dances, handicrafts, and warm hospitality in riverside lodges.
October to April offers dry weather and excellent wildlife viewing. October-February is cooler (15-28°C) while March-April is warmer and animals gather at water sources.
Chitwan is one of the best places in Asia to see the greater one-horned rhinoceros - over 600 live in the park.
