Pucón

Pucón is Chile's premier adventure town - a lakeside resort nestled beneath the perfectly conical, snow-capped Villarrica volcano, one of the world's most active volcanoes. The combination of volcanic landscapes, pristine lakes, ancient araucaria (monkey puzzle) forests, and hot springs creates an outdoor playground that draws adventure seekers year-round.

Summiting Villarrica volcano is the bucket-list experience - a challenging 6-8 hour climb through snow and ice rewarded with views into the active, glowing lava crater at the top, followed by an exhilarating slide back down the snow slopes on your backside. Beyond the volcano, Pucón offers white-water rafting, canyoning, zip-lining, mountain biking, horseback riding, and fly fishing on world-class rivers.

In summer (December-March), Playa Grande on Lago Villarrica becomes a beach resort with swimming, kayaking, and waterfront dining. In winter, the Villarrica ski resort offers skiing with a volcanic backdrop. The region's numerous hot springs - Termas Geométricas (a stunning architectural masterpiece), Huife, and Pozones - provide year-round relaxation.

Summer (December-March) offers the best weather for volcano climbing, lake activities, and hot springs. Winter (June-September) is ski season. The volcano climb requires clear weather and is often closed in winter.
