Kralendijk is the colorful capital of Bonaire, an island that proudly displays "Diver's Paradise" on its license plates. The entire coastline is a marine park, and shore diving here is unmatched anywhere in the Caribbean - simply drive to a marked site, walk in from the beach, and explore pristine coral reefs teeming with life.
Bonaire sits outside the hurricane belt, making it a year-round destination. Beyond diving, the island is famous for its flamingos (which outnumber the human population), windsurfing at Lac Bay, and the surreal pink-tinged salt pans at the island's southern tip where centuries-old slave huts still stand.
Bonaire is excellent year-round thanks to its position outside the hurricane belt. January-June is driest (27-32°C). Diving visibility is best March-October.
