Saba is the smallest municipality of the Netherlands and arguably the most unique island in the Caribbean. This 13-square-kilometer volcanic peak rises dramatically from the sea - its airport runway is the shortest commercial runway in the world at just 400 meters, and the harbor can only receive small boats.
Saba has no beaches to speak of - instead, it offers world-class diving in the Saba Marine Park, hiking to the summit of Mount Scenery (887m, the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands), and tiny white villages with red-roofed cottages that look transplanted from a Dutch painting. With just 2,000 residents, Saba is the ultimate Caribbean escape for those who want nature over nightlife.
December to May is the driest period with calm seas (25-30°C). Diving is excellent year-round. Hurricane season (August-November) can disrupt travel.
