Geraldton is a mid-coast city in Western Australia, famous for world-class windsurfing and kitesurfing, the moving HMAS Sydney II Memorial, and access to the Abrolhos Islands. The consistent sea breezes make Geraldton one of the best wind sports destinations in the world.
The HMAS Sydney II Memorial, overlooking the ocean, commemorates the 645 sailors lost when the warship was sunk by the German raider Kormoran in 1941. The Abrolhos Islands, 60 km offshore, offer excellent fishing, snorkelling, and a tragic history of Dutch shipwrecks including the Batavia.
